SSF's Response to U.S. Student Visa Ruling

SSF' Response to Student Visa Ruling:

7/10/2020

Dear Applicants and Prospective Applicants of SSF:

Earlier this week, the United States Government's Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced that students studying in the United States on a student visa (F or M) will no longer be allowed to remain in the United States if their university, college, school, or program commits to 100% online instruction for the Fall 2020 semester. The Scandinavian Stipend Foundations finds this news to be disheartening, and a lack of understanding for such ruling makes it even harder to fathom that this ruling could become a reality. SSF is aware that many Scandinavian students studying in the United States are likely to be impacted by such ruling, and while we are working with many others to reverse this ruling, we are also prepared for this to continue to be a reality come August 2020. Therefore, as a result, SSF has added "Scenario C" to the Coronavirus Financial Assistance Program (CFAP), which will allow Scandinavian university/college students who are forced to return to their home country to apply for some financial assistance for their travels back to their home country. In doing so, SSF is committed to helping as many students as possible with airfare and other travel expenses to safely return to their home countries. "Scenario C" of the CFAP program will continue to be active and readily available to students who meet our basic CFAP eligibility requirements, and possible funding will be available to students who are truly in need who can provide documentation showing that they have been impacted by this disheartning ruling. More information about the CFAP Stipend Program can be found here.
